Blog statistics are so much fun. Someone somewhere apparently found this blog because they did a Google search for ‘Pocahontas Cake’ and since I had written an entry with both ‘Pocahontas’ and ‘cake mix’ in the content, that blog entry came up on the search. How funny.

Well it’s been an interesting two days in the job search. Within less than 24 hours, I have experienced a brand new kind of rejection, qualified for steps two and three of an automated job prospect elimination process, been asked by a great, great buddy to move to Brooklyn, NY to be an artist, and have also had my resume re-requested for second consideration for an internship with ChaCha Search.

The overnight job was my new kind of rejection. I was leaving Eddie Bauer yesterday after work, walking to my car where I actually paid for parking because I had a second interview to get to for that typesetting position, when I decided to check my voicemail. I just knew something wierd was going to happen.

Sure enough, the lady who interviewed me last Friday was calling to apologize sincerely to me that the guy I was to talk to tonight was no longer interested in interviewing me because he had hired someone last night who already had a lot of industry experience (and you just can’t compete with that). She really was sorry, she said that she tried to convince him to talk with me because she was really impressed in our first interview and all.

So I laughed. Seriously, this whole rejection thing is getting hilarious. It’s no longer a source of frustration and a sense of hopelessness. It’s now as if being employed is simply not my destiny, and I wonder, how many more forms of rejection can there be possible?

And what was I most mad about? The fact that I shelled out $4 for parking just to prep for the interview early. Waste of money.

Tim said I should bill them.

  1. That was me pulling your Google String :)
My daughter has discovered Pocahontas some 13 years after the movie’s release and has requested a cake themed after the movie for her approaching 7th Bday…
    Hope you found your destiny!
